Personalized recommendations

As you scroll through the shops and items and save your faves, you’ll be training the algorithms to show you more items you’ll love. I don’t know about you, but tailored suggestions are always welcome.

Image Search

The Etsy app allows you to make quick searches based on pictures, whether they’re freshly taken photos or uploaded ones, getting similar or related products to choose from instantly. You can’t say you’ve never been bewitched by a beautiful centerpiece at a restaurant, and wanted to get one yourself. Well, snap that photo and find your own on Etsy!

Deals

Did you say deals? I’m in! The Deals tab helps you keep up with offers and special discounts from your favorite shops. And it’s only available on the Etsy app and not in the browser version. The good reasons to shop on the go keep adding up, don’t they?

Gift Mode

If you ever feel anxious about getting a present for a special someone, and you’re like me, who ends up postponing the task, get ready to love Gift Mode. Available in the US, CA, UK and AU, Gift Mode is a new, AI-powered feature that creates listings of the best gift ideas. It’s all you need to find the perfect gift for any occasion! It’s pretty simple: first you’re directed to take a quiz to collect information about the occasion (birthday, anniversary, wedding, etc.), who you wish to celebrate (girlfriend, parent, child, etc.) and the person’s interests. Then, you’ll be able to browse all the gift suggestions by choosing a listing, for example “The jewelry lover” or “The cat lover”. It’s super useful and even if you don’t find the right gift, at least you’ll be incredibly inspired.

Augmented Reality (only on iPhone app)

With so many options available and one-of-a-kind items on Etsy, making up your mind on what to buy can be difficult. If you’re looking for wall art but wonder how a certain photograph, print, or portrait would look in your own living room, this awesome new tool comes to your aid by letting you visualize it and help you decide.

For now, this feature is only available for iOS devices, and for 2D artwork in listings in the following categories: Paintings, Photography, and Prints. Etsy says the feature is in the works for Android users (and more items!).

How to make the gifting experience even more special

Etsy gives you the chance to treat the gift recipient and surprise them. Once you purchase an item, you can indicate it is a gift and include a special, personalized message and/or an optional teaser. This way, the happy giftee will receive an email with a sneak peek of the awesome present that’s on the way, together with the shipping details (shipping status, tracking number if available, and the estimated delivery date).

If even after giving this amazing feature a try, you aren’t fully convinced about what would make a great present, you can always get a good old Etsy Gift Card emailed to the lucky recipient. Etsy has you covered on the gifting front!

Platform availability

Etsy: Shop & Gift with Style is available on Google Play for Android devices with Android 9.0 or later, and on the App Store for iPhone and iPad with iOS 16.0 or later. Note that there’s no official desktop version of the app available, so watch out for online scams!

Why I love the Etsy app

Being an avid shopper always on the lookout for original, unique finds, I think Etsy is the one marketplace that can guarantee exactly that. Taking into account all the interesting features the app includes, being able to browse and purchase hidden gems directly from my phone makes the experience a lot more exciting. It’s definitely a new way of shopping and trust me, you should give it a try too.
