Russell L. Blaylock (born November 15, 1945) is an author and a retired U.S. neurosurgeon. Blaylock was a clinical assistant professor of neurosurgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. In 2013 he was a visiting professor in the biology department at Belhaven College.
It seems clear that Dr. Blaylock is a licensed physician, has been Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and has been in private practice as a neurosurgeon for some 20+ years. Urology (from Greek οὖρον ouron "urine" and -λογία-logia "study of"), also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the urinary system and the reproductive organs.
In the United States, prostatitis is diagnosed in 8 percent of all urologist visits and 1 percent of all primary care physician visits. Urinary retention is an inability to completely empty the bladder. Onset can be sudden or gradual. When of sudden onset, symptoms include an inability to urinate and lower abdominal pain.
The department of urology is one of 21 clinical departments at The University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Instead, Blalock decided to complete an internship in urology, in which he performed exceptionally well. He also completed one year of an assistant residency on the general surgical service (his contract was not renewed), and an externship in otorhinolaryngology .
