In August of 2022 events of extreme flooding occurred. Torrential rain flooded Mississippi Pearl River. It also flooded the Ross R. Barnett Reservoir which is 33,000 acres. The Jackson area relied on this source for water in their homes. When a flood occurs often the water becomes contaminated because of runoff.
