Mount Storm Lake – also known as New Stony River Reservoir – is a 1,200 acres (4.9 km 2) reservoir created in 1965 on the Stony River in Grant County, West Virginia. It serves as a cooling pond for the Dominion 1.6 gigawatt Mount Storm Power Station , which provides electricity to more than two million customers in Northern Virginia.
The reserve's public facilities include wharf, boat ramps, car and trailer parking area, fish-cleaning table, advisory signs (boating, fishing, personal water craft and navigation), picnic tables and amenities. Linked by a causeway, the former Peat Island hospital, to the west, is now operated by the Department of Community Services.
It lies at an elevation of 5,712 feet (1,741 m). Established in 1972, the marina features a 54-unit RV campground along with developed and primitive camping, rental cabins, boat ramp and dock, a sand beach, restrooms, showers, a group-use pavilion, sewage disposal, and fish cleaning stations.
