Legacy[edit] In 2002, The John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts, a community-based performing arts center and music school in Eugene, Oregon, was co-founded by one of his great-grandchildren. With his wife, Mary Roanna (née Porter), they had daughters Helen Shedd Reed Keith and Laura Abbie Shedd Schweppe (? – 1937).
Ecdysis. Process of ecdysis of a cicada. Ecdysis is the moulting of the cuticle in many invertebrates of the clade Ecdysozoa. Since the cuticle of these animals typically forms a largely inelastic exoskeleton, it is shed during growth and a new, larger covering is formed. [1] The remnants of the old, empty exoskeleton are called exuviae.
