Silver Beach County Park is a park located in St. Joseph, Michigan at the mouth of the St. Joseph River. [1] It was formerly Silver Beach Amusement Park, an amusement park, which operated between 1891 and 1971.
In 1891 the Silver Beach Amusement Park was opened on land between the lake and mouth of the river in St. Joseph. Logan Drake and Louis Wallace bought the land from the Pere Marquette Railroad and added cottages to lure tourists to the lake front.

Rex Beach was born in Atwood, Michigan, but moved to Tampa, Florida, with his family where his father was growing fruit trees. Beach studied at Rollins College, Florida (1891–1896), the Chicago College of Law (1896–97), and Kent College of Law, Chicago (1899–1900). [2] In 1900 he was drawn to Alaska at the time of the Klondike Gold Rush.
