St. Joseph Island is in the northwestern part of Lake Huron.It is part of the Canadian province of Ontario.At 365 km 2 (141 sq mi) in area, it is the sixth largest lake island in the world; the second largest island on Lake Huron, following Manitoulin Island; and the third largest of all the islands on the Great Lakes, trailing Manitoulin and Lake Superior's Isle Royale.

The Whitcomb Hotel, located in St. Joseph, Michigan, was a renowned hotel in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries known for its mineral spa and panoramic views of Lake Michigan and the St. Joseph River. July 17, 1979. Hall Street Historic District is a national historic district located at St. Joseph, Missouri. The district encompasses 43 contributing buildings in a predominantly residential section of St. Joseph. It developed between about 1870 and 1920, and includes representative examples of Italianate and Late Victorian style architecture.
St. Joseph was first platted in 1829, and the first lighthouse at the site, located on the shore, was built in 1832. Construction began on harbor piers in 1836, and by 1848 a beacon light had been established on the pier. The onshore lighthouse was replaced in 1859, and a new pierhead beacon was constructed on the south pier in 1870.
