A cleaning station is a location where aquatic life congregate to be cleaned by smaller beings. Such stations exist in both freshwater and marine environments, and are used by animals including fish, sea turtles and hippos.
In a well designed system, the existing water in the raceway is largely replaced by new water when the same volume of new water enters the raceway. Self-cleaning can sometimes be achieved if the fish stocks density is sufficiently high and the water level is sufficiently low.
The pier has lights for night fishing, fish cleaning stations and several benches. The attached building has bait and tackle, souvenirs, a grill and ice cream. [5] The pier is often used for photographers to capture shots of the local surfers.
A new fish cleaning station opened at Lampe Marina, on the south end of the parking lot, in Erie on May 1, 2024. The station will be open 24 hours a day, May 1 through Oct. 31, 2024.
