Grass Point State Park offers picnic tables with pavilions, a playground and playing fields, fishing and ice fishing, a boat launch and docks, a swimming beach, and seasonal hunting. A nearly one-mile-long (1.6 km) snowmobile trail passes through the park, which may be used for hiking during the summer months.
Vessels wishing to moor in this area must use designated mooring buoys or docks. About 54 percent of the park remains open for fishing. The park is bordered on the east, south and west by the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, and on the northwest by the Tortugas Ecological Reserve. The keys are low and irregular.
