The St. Joseph River (known locally as the St. Joe) is a tributary of Lake Michigan with a length of 210 miles (340 km). The river flows in a generally westerly direction through southern Michigan and northern Indiana , United States , before emptying into Lake Michigan .
To the east is St. Joseph Island, Ontario. To the west and south is the eastern corner of Michigan's upper peninsula. The developed areas in the upper left area are the cities of Sault Ste. St. Joseph, often called St. Joe, is a town in, and the parish seat of, rural Tensas Parish in northeastern Louisiana, United States, in the delta of the Mississippi River. The population was 1,176 at the 2010 census. The town had an African-American majority of 77.4 percent in 2010.
