The price of a U.S. First-Class Mail stamp is going up again, and the United States Postal Service (USPS) is hinting at more hikes on the way.
U.S. Special Delivery was a postal service paid for with additional postage for urgent letters and postal packets which are delivered in less time than by standard or first class mail service. Its meaning is different and separate from express mail delivery service.
Postcard stamps increased to 44 cents from 40 cents and the cost to ship international letters increased 10 cents to $1.40, according to the Postal Service website.
FedEx's other main competitor is the United States Postal Service (USPS), as USPS offers an overnight service (Priority Mail Express), a 2-5 day service (Priority Mail), and an economy/ground service (First Class, Parcel Select Ground).
The 7.8 percent price increase, if approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission, would take effect July 14. The proposal would mark the second price hike this year and the fifth in two years.
