The official 2023 Christmas Tree Lighting occurred during a live broadcast on November 29, 2023. The tree remained on display until 10:00 PM EST on January 13, 2024.
The tree was lit by Dennis Hastert, assisted by eight-year-old Steven Castillo from Santa Fe, at 5 pm on December 8 in a ceremony including music performed by the United States Marine Band. Felled in early November, the tree arrived by trailer at the West Front Lawn of the Capitol on November 28.
