St. Joseph River of Lake Michigan I was born and raised in Berrien County, Michigan, spending the first 23 years of my life in and about the St. Joseph River drainage, and having recently returned there following retirement. I have never heard the river referred to locally as the St. Joseph River of Lake Michigan.
