Apraxia of lid opening. In ophthalmology, apraxia of lid opening (ALO) is an inability to initiate voluntary opening of the eyelid following a period of eyelid closure, with normal function at other times. Manual lifting of the eyelid often resolves the problem and the lid is able to stay open.
Signs and symptoms. Blepharospasm usually begins with occasional twitches of both eyelids, which progress over time to forceful and frequent spasms and contractions of the eyelids. In severe episodes, the patient cannot open their eyelids (apraxia), which severely limits their daily activities.
Symptoms. Patients may feel wobbly vision, back and forth vibrating, blurred vision, and different symptoms depending on the severity of the problem. During a visual symptom, patients may become dizzy, or nauseous. Closing your eyes during this may not always work, as you will still have feeling of eye movement.
At the early stage, a retinal hemorrhage may not show any symptom at all. Some symptoms may include: Seeing floaters in the vision. Seeing cobwebs in the vision. Seeing haze or shadows. Distorted vision. Rapid flashes of light in peripheral vision. Red tint to vision. Blurriness.
Signs and symptoms. Typical symptoms of dry eye syndrome are dryness, burning [13] and a sandy-gritty eye irritation that gets worse as the day goes on. [14] Symptoms may also be described as itchy, stinging or tired eyes. [13] [15] Other symptoms are pain, redness, a pulling sensation, and pressure behind the eye.
