I go to "Motors"-"Cars & Trucks"- "Collector Cars"- "Antique & Vintage (pre-1925)" and get 75,826 results. Choosing "Oldest First" from the drop-down list, a Lotus Super Seven, a Shelby Cobra, and a Land Rover top the list. Of the 50 cars listed on that first page, 22 are hot rods. Phil

Stu, I also have a 1929 Essex. Yours looks to be in very nice shape. There are several of the parts you are looking for listed on Ebay right now. Go to collector car parts and accessories under ebay motors and do a search for Essex. The internet with AACA Forum and Ebay motors has created a whole new life for the collector car world. Bob
I am almost 60 (6 more weeks) and started in the hobby 44 years ago. Unrealistically many dream cars could fill the garage mostly 16 cylinder models 😁 I have never been a corvette guy but as of late I have been considering liquidating and getting a c8 . Probably the only car ...
My understanding is that you are correct. Most collector cars (of all price ranges) trade hands privately. Car auctions are only a small portion of collector car sales. If my memory is correct, I think it is in the 15-20% range. So, I still think most people in the collector car hobby don't drive their cars much, and these data support that belief.
The other and more common kind was they would take a then-new General Motors sedan or coupe, and customize it into their idea of what a modern Packard might have looked like. I am wondering if the Bayliff cars would fit into this class. Bayliff began doing his cars in 1979, so some of them now meet the 25 year age requirement.
